is the bay area news station, kron 4 news starts now. >> at this point i am just numb. >> pam: at 11 -- a mother waiting for answers as today police swarm a san francisco home. digging for clues in the kevin collins. who went missing in 1984. here's a map to show a couple of key locations in this case. on the day kevin went missing, he left basketball practice at saint agnes high school in the haight. he was last seen at oak street and masonic. today -- bones were found in a home on masonic. near page street. kron-4's reggie kumar begins our live team coverage in san francisco. reggie, what's the latest? >> reporter: the bones were discovered on the masonic st. but they are from an animal, not a human. san francisco investigators say cadavar dogs indicated the presence of possible human remains under the concrete floor of this home near the 1100 block of masonic street. several people spent most of tuesday removing large chunks of concrete, and dirt in order to locate the remains. once they were found, the medical examiner determined they were animal bones. so they may not be link

tonight. philippe? >> reporter: pam, we are on the 600 block of harrison. the fire department said that this is been vacant quite for some time. even squatters could be the cause for this fire. three men actually were found on the top of the roof on the next building of this burning structure. they have been treated. there is a company that is boarding up the windows and as you can see there or at least for water hoses onto the building. at least four of them. at 5: 21 they were able to contain the fire within three hours it was completely controlled. the never fire never hopped to a n adjacent building structures for however, this is what"take a look at what the scene looked like earlier." they noticed that three men were standing on top of the building that is now destroyed. they were treated for respiratory issues and a later detained by the oakland police department. it is possible they were responsible for starting a fire. >> what we did not realize is that they could be involved in the fire. the police department has been in custody. they are being questioned on weather or not the

expected to last for several more hours reggie kumar, kron 4. >> pam: the manhunt for the suspects involved in the shooting of an undercover officer in oakland is over. police arrested 5 men. who they believe have gang ties. the shooting happened monday night between seminary and harmon avenue. police say, the officer was working as part of a new violence- reduction crime team. and was alone when he was confronted and shot by several suspects. the officer is at home tonight -- recovering from his injuries. >> tonight-- police are on the hunt for the gunman who shot four teenagers in brentwood. police say just before shots were fired. a white car drove past the group of teens on breton drive. this is video from our helicopter partnership with abc 7 news. some words were exchanged between the group and the suspect or suspects. in the exchange of words the suspects mentioned something about the victims clothing, which led us to believe it was gang motivated. after the exchange they drove by started to shoot. >> pam: police say the victims are between 13 and 16 years old. they are expe

this recycling center. >> pam: tonight at eight. sheriff's deputies in sonoma county. investigating the death of a man. found among a pile of trash in petaluma. an employee of a recycling facility made the gruesome discovery in a warehouse late this afternoon. this is video of the scene courtesy of sky 7 h-d. investigator say the body is that of a hispanic man. kron-4's philippe djegal is in petaluma. with details in this still developing story. >> reporter: the sonoma county sheriff's department says the body has no obvious signs of trauma, and that the death is suspicious only because of the circumstances. that being the body found in this recycling facility. novato disposal services. the sheriff's department says the body was found in this warehouse. the facility is just off highway 101 south at the petaluma boulevard exit in petaluma. the sheriff's department says en employee found the body just before two in the afternoon near a front- loader. the body was in a pile of cardboard and other recycled material. novato disposal services collects trash from marin and sonoma counties.

>> pam: startling new numbers are out. about the number of suicides among members of the military. >> reporter: this is not the record number the u-s military wants - a record high number of suicides in 2012 - 349 active duty service members took their lives last year - that's across all four branches. compare that to 20-11, which saw 301 suicides. and service member suicides is significantly higher than the number of u-s troops that died in operation enduring freedom - 313 people died fighting in afghanistan. the army saw the most suicides - and a previous study released last spring found that army suicides have soared since the start of the iraq war in 2003. it has been one month since the massacre at sandy hook elementary school in new town connecticut. 26 people were killed. most of them children. when a gunman stormed the campus. a month later, support continues to pour in from all over the world. and now people from new town are forming a group called 'sandy hook promise' . they are hoping to join the national debate on gun control. they say, their goal is to set a course fo
